R12 is a colorless, odorless CFC refrigerant that was phased out of production in 1995 due to its ozone-depleting nature. R12 was used in many refrigeration and air conditioning applications, including residential appliances (prior to 1950), automotive air conditioning (prior to 1994), and industrial and commercial refrigeration. R12 is a high-pressure refrigerant and is stored in white containers.
