RS-50 (R442A)

RS-50 (R442A) is a non-flammable blend of R32, R125, R134a, R227ea, and R152a. RS-50 is a high efficiency lower GWP replacement for R-404A and R-507A. RS-50 is compatible with all materials commonly used in refrigeration systems previously charged with R404A or R507A. It is recommended to check equipment manufacturer’s retrofit literature and obtain recommendations in regard to compatibility. RS-50 is compatible with polyolester (POE) lubricants. When converting from R404A or R507A, the existing POE oil will not require replacement.

Performance Characteristics

  • GWP (1888) is less than half of R404A and R507A

  • Suitable in OEM and retrofit applications

  • Higher coefficient of performance than R404A and R507A

  • Higher capacity than R404A, R507A, and R22

  • Effective at medium and low temperatures

  • Mass flow equivalent to R22 and considerably lower than R404A and R507A

  • Good match for R22 in refrigeration applications
