Refrigerant Cylinder Safety
Compliance of Refrigerant Recovery
The recovery weight shall NOT exceed 80% of the recovery cylinder capacity. The pressure of the refrigerant at 131°F shall not exceed 5⁄4 of the cylinder’s service pressure. To comply with these requirements and for the safety of our technicians (and yours), A-Gas will not accept refrigerant in overfilled cylinders or cylinders that do not meet the required service pressure of the refrigerant recovered. Please verify the weight recovered in each cylinder and each cylinder's required refrigerant service pressure against the provided Refrigerant Maximum Net Recovery Weights Charts for Non-Flammable and Flammable Refrigerants.
Safe Cylinder Checklist
Health and safety are at the heart of everything we do, and we are committed to demonstrating best practice across the A-Gas business. Our team put together this Safe Cylinder Checklist to provide a visual guide for our customers and partners, assisting them in doing visual cylinder checks. Download the checklist. If you see any defects depicted in the Safe Cylinder Checklist, contact us or your A-Gas representative directly.
Identifying Certified Recovery Cylinders
Counterfeit recovery cylinders look similar to legitimate certified cylinders but lack rigorous testing and construction standards. They pose a significant threat to safety, the environment, compliance, and the industry. Canada and the U.S. recognize each other's approved cylinders, so if a cylinder is DOT-certified, it will be compliant in Canada, and vice versa. The industry has seen counterfeit cylinders from a few brands. If you have a cylinder in question, contact us.
